In this online event we will hear from a number of people about how God called them into new ministry in their sixties.
People often assume they are ‘too old’ to begin a new ministry. And although there are some age limits imposed by the national church on entering licensed ministry, that is not the only ministry you might consider. Dr Pollyanna Magne will introduce our session with some time to reflect together, and share information about the ministry of spiritual direction, and particularly the course that is offered by Sarum College. We will hear from a number of people in the second half of life who have recently trained or begun training for particular ministries, including the Elizabeth Pathway into self-supporting ordained ministry, Anna Chaplaincy and licensed lay ministry.
Who is this event suitable for?
This session is particularly suitable for those over 50 sensing a call to ministry of some kind. Incumbents and others in parish ministry teams who are considering encouraging existing lay leaders into locally deployed ministry may also find it helpful.

Revd Canon Karen Hutchinson supports and enables the growth of vocations to a range of ministries. She is also Associate Priest in the parish of Bemerton and a former archdeacon.
Dr Pollyanna Magne is Director of Spiritual Direction at Sarum College. She leads the programme in Spiritual Direction and offers Spiritual Accompaniment, Individually Guided Retreats (IGRs) and Supervision. Her role as Director and ministry in Spiritual Accompaniment is built on the desire to enable others to explore their spirituality, deepen their faith and enrich their relationship with God.
