A guide to Safeguarding Training requirements for Central and Parish roles.

Safeguarding Training Requirements Guide

Our Safeguarding training requirements are set out following the 4 principles below (in line with the Learning and Development Framework of the Church of England):

Safeguarding training must be repeated every 3 years. *Core Pathway Training must be repeated every three years and repeated at the highest level. So if a role requires Safeguarding Training up to Foundation level of the Core Pathway modules, then that individual in the role would need to complete Basic and Foundation training. Then every three years, they would only need to repeat the Foundation level of training.

Safeguarding training can be found on the National Safeguarding Training Portal. Leadership training for the Diocese of Salisbury is not found on the portal. This can be found here on the Learning Hub.

For Central Roles:

For central roles such as Clergy, Permission to Officiate, Bishops and Licensed Lay Ministers, we have created a Safeguarding Training Matrix as a guide to understanding the level of Safeguarding training required for your role.

For Parish Roles:

For parish roles such as PCC members, Bell Ringers, Children’s Group Worker or LPAs, we have created a Safeguarding Training Matrix as a guide to understanding the level of Safeguarding training required for your role.
