This is an online course delivered by StartTheConversation.uk. This course will equip you with 10 practical tools and inspire confidence to have a compassionate and potentially life-saving conversation with someone you are worried about.
Who can attend?
This course is open for anyone in The Diocese to book who is interested in learning more about suicide prevention.
Learning Outcomes:

- Recognise how the prevalence of suicide in our society means more open conversation is needed.
- Discuss common fears and myths about suicide.
- Compare outdated, judgemental language about suicide with more helpful alternatives.
- Identify the signs that someone is struggling.
- Understand how to ask someone directly if they are thinking of suicide.
- Reflect on and improve your listening skills.
- Examine their personal limits when talking to someone thinking of suicide.
- Use 10 practical tools for talking about suicide with confidence.
The Online course and duration:
This online Zoom course will be held on Monday 15th September 2025 and will start at 10am and will finish at 11.30am.
